How NannyKit started
How it all started
When our daughter was born in 2024, we soon realised that hiring a nanny was the best childcare option for our family. Our daughter could stay in the comfort of home, receive one-to-one attention every day, and avoid the endless cycle of colds that comes with nursery. For us, it meant no morning drop-offs, no rushing to pick-up, and more flexibility around our schedules.
The reality of hiring a nanny in the UK
But as soon as we decided to hire our nanny, reality hit: in the UK, that makes you a domestic employer. Suddenly we were responsible for contracts, HMRC registration, pensions, insurance, payslips, holiday tracking, sick leave… the list went on.
Outdated alternatives
We looked for solutions. Agencies added big commissions and took away flexibility. Nanny payroll services still felt like hiring an accountant we had to manage over email — sending hours worked each month, checking payslips, reporting changes manually. It saved some time, but it added mental load.
NannyKit was born
NannyKit is the app we wanted for ourselves: not a payroll service to manage, not an agency to juggle, just one place that takes care of nanny employment and gives families their time (and headspace) back.
